School Neighborhood

The
picture on the left shows the view I looked at every day
from one of my classrooms. The neighborhood around the school
is poor. Our ride to school allowed a glimpse at the millions
of poor villagers who have moved into the outskirts of Istanbul
in the past decades. |

The school is a green, walled compound. The high-rises in
the far distance are Atasehir, the upscale neighborhood
where we lived. |
